Remember Mariupol

These are some of the last things this military medic said, as she pleaded for her and the gave her life defending Mariupol. "Do not write books or make movies about us later, do not say you didn't know and couldn't help. We are not martyrs - we are fighters.Mariupol is Ukraine."

If you think you can imagine the scale of the disaster in Mariupol from Russian crimes, I assure you - not even close. We medics try to help not only the military, but also civilians around the clock, under the bombardment of enemy aircraft and artillery. Because ambulances no longer go, and no one helps anyone.

And yet every bomb, Grad (rocket-propelled grenade), and destruction is not just wounds. They are arms and legs torn off, eyes knocked out, bodies torn apart by shrapnel, entrails falling out.

I understand that this may be painful to listen to, because among the wounded and dead, there may be your relatives and loved ones. But listen, because you must understand the situation and act.

Remember Mariupol, shout about it. Because we do not want to be heroes and martyrs posthumously. People want to live and revive a ruined Ukraine. People who have been defending their right to be Ukrainians since 2014. Don't make movies and write books about it afterwards.

Don't say you didn't know and couldn't help. You knew and could.

Often, all we can do is state the smite and persuade our loved ones to move away from the bodies to shelters. Because we don't have the capacity to bury bodies. And we also don't have the capacity to get people out from under the rubble with fractures who then die. Adults and children.

This is all the truth that those who post happy pictures hardly want to hear. Yes, Ukraine will win, but tens, hundreds of thousands will die. Because the official statistics are too optimistic. It lacks zeros.

She Gave Her Life, Defending Mariupol Until The End

Unblock Mariupol and allow medical supplies, evacuate the wounded and bury the dead in a human way. The city that fought for Ukraine for eight years and is fighting now. We are not martyrs - we are fighters. But now we need help from all of Ukraine.

Mariupol is Ukraine.
